MALACAÑANG brushed aside a senator’s allegation that the corruption scandal in the military was orchestrated by Washington in retaliation for Manila’s withdrawal of its military contingent from Iraq.
The President’s spokesman and press secretary, Ignacio Bunye, said on Saturday that although Sen. Aquilino Pimentel’s allegation was serious, he was only quoting an informant.
“It is important to know where the information came from. Senator Pimentel was quoting an unnamed source whom we could not verify,” Bunye said.
