Australia yesterday became one of just six nations that voted against a United Nations resolution that orders Israel to tear down the barrier it is building through the West Bank. The resolution received overwhelming international support, with 150 nations in the UN General Assembly voting for it.

Besides Israel and Australia, the nations that voted against the resolution were Israel's strongest ally, the United States, and three smaller countries: Marshall Islands, Micronesia and Palau. Ten nations abstained.
