Federal Opposition leader Mark Latham has reiterated his promise to withdraw Australian troops from Iraq before the end of this year if Labor wins the election. In Sydney, Mr Latham has made a major speech on Labor's policies on Iraq, outlining plans to give economic and humanitarian aid.

Mr Latham says Labor will not be backing down from its policy of withdrawing Australian troops operating in Iraq and says Labor will take advice on the security of the Australian diplomatic mission in Baghdad.
