JOHN Howard early today appeared to draw a parallel between Australia's involvement at Normandy 60 years ago and the war in Iraq.
Australia committed 3000 men to the liberation of Europe, although the nation was engaged in a "life and death struggle of our own" against Japan, Mr Howard said.
