MANILA, March 4 (Reuters) - Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo told troops on Friday to keep fighting Muslim rebels on a remote southern island, nearly a month into clashes that have killed over 100 and sparked bomb attacks.

Religious and community leaders had called for a truce on Jolo island, where about 25,000 villagers have fled their homes to escape the fighting between soldiers and two groups of Muslim rebels.
