Following the weekly meeting of the PLO leadership on Saturday, the Secretary General of the Executive Committee Mahmud Abbas told reporters that leading Palestinian national institutions are assuming their responsibilities collectively as usual in accordance with the Basic Law while maintaining contact with their leader Yaser Arafat who is receiving medical treatment in a Paris hospital.
The meeting, held in Arafat’s headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah, was chaired by Abbas and attended by Prime Minister Ahmad Qurei, Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) Rawhi Fattouh and other national figures.
