Four American soldiers and an Iraqi guardsman were killed Thursday morning when insurgents fired mortar rounds at the Iraqi National Guard headquarters in Samarra, destroying the building.

A fifth U.S. soldier was missing after the attack. Twenty other U.S. personnel and three Iraqi guardsmen were wounded.
