As Venezuela prepared to hold a recall referendum on President Hugo Chavez on August 15, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan called on all sides in the political dispute to remain committed to resolving all issues through consultations and dialogue.
"The Secretary-General reiterates the commitment of the United Nations to continue supporting Venezuelans in their search for a constitutional, democratic solution to their political differences," a spokesman for Annan said in a statement. |
