Former Enron Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Kenneth Lay surrendered to federal authorities Thursday to face criminal charges related to his leadership of the onetime-giant energy company, which fell from Wall Street's loftiest heights into bankruptcy and disgrace.
Lay, who has steadfastly denied all wrongdoing, appeared calm and relaxed as he entered FBI offices in Houston. In a statement Wednesday he said that he had done nothing wrong and that the indictment was not justified.
