Washington, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) The announced visit to Haiti of US Assistant Secretary of State of Western Hemisphere Affairs, Roger Noriega, signals further US military interference in Haitian domestic affairs.
The announcement was made by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice short after the US embassy in Port Au Prince requested the presence of Marines.
An editorial in The Washington Post alleged that the Stabilization Mission of the UN in Haiti (Minustah) is a failure and that the temporary government has not been able to create favorable conditions for the execution of elections, saying an aid operation is necessary, and it is one that cannot be carried out without the contribution of American troops.
