Government forces in eastern Congo are retaking positions held by rebels but will not pursue them into a region that neighbouring Rwanda sees as a potential flashpoint.

Forces loyal to the Congo Government have launched a new offensive against the rebels in recent days. They have seized a town held by renegade general Laurent Nkunda in the east of the vast, mineral-rich African country.
