Kenyan Government Asserts There Won't Be Hostages Swap With Iraq

The Government has no plans to demand the exchange of three Kenyans held hostage in Iraq with an Iraqi who has been held at a Nairobi police station for the past three years. Office of the President assistant minister Soita Shitanda said the hostages' case was being handled by the Foreign Affairs ministry, while the Iraqi's was under his ministry.

The Kenyans are among seven foreigners being held hostage, the others being from India and Egypt. Two of the three Kenyans - Ibrahim Khamis, Sakim Faiz Khamis and Jalal Awadh - have been targeted for beheading by their captors.
