INTERNATIONAL pressure on the new controversial leadership in Togo continued yesterday as the United States and the European Union (EU) expressed support for West African leaders' sanctions on the neighbouring country. Nigeria, which has spearheaded the rejection of the constitutional breach in Togo, has however, ruled out military intervention in resolving the crisis.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) at the weekend suspended Togo from its activities and imposed travel ban on the country's leaders. The sub regional bloc also recalled its ambassadors from Togo and imposed arms embargo on the country.
