ZIMBABWEAN President, Robert Mugabe, has sharply criticised the United States (U.S.) Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, during a speech to launch his party's general election campaign.

Speaking at a rally, Mugabe said Rice was a girl born out of slave ancestry who should know "that the white man is not a friend".

A banner said March 31 poll would be an "anti-Blair election", in reference to the United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair.
